September always makes me want to pull out the fall decorations, even though the weather hasn’t gotten the memo. I’m ready for cooler evenings, candles, pumpkins, and sitting outside without immediately deciding I’ve made a mistake.

I also like that a new month gives me a chance to slow down and check in with myself. Not to make a huge list of things I need to fix. I have enough lists. Just to ask, Am I enjoying what’s right in front of me?

It’s so easy to look ahead to the weekend, a trip, the holidays, or the next time life feels a little less busy. Meanwhile, there are good things happening in the middle of an ordinary Tuesday that I don’t want to miss.

So this September, I want to take the pictures, spend time with my people, laugh more, and drink my coffee before it gets cold. That last one may be ambitious, but I’m willing to try.

I don’t know what this month will bring. I’m going to thank God for what I have, trust Him with what’s ahead, and enjoy the fall decorations I will absolutely put out too early.
